Selfridges Shoeper Hero

Continuing our digital work with Selfridges, which to date has included a number of high profile digital ad campaigns including general awareness campaigns and the launch of Selfridges online store, we were tasked with bringing their quirky Shoeper Hero character to life in a series of surreal and amusing animations.

The Shoeperhero, or Shoep as some like to call him, is a superhero like no other.

He spends his days and nights fighting crimes against shoes – fixing cracked pavements, broken heels, and soothing blisters, as well as listening to the shoe stories of women across the globe – and granting their shoe wishes too.
Whether you’re desperate for a pair of new season sling backs or need to be carried home in your too-high, but too gorgeous to take off gladiator heels, he’s your man.

In any shoe crisis he’ll come to your rescue when you don’t know who else to turn to.

Tell him your shoe fantasies and he might, just might, fulfill them.

The Shoe Galleries opened to the public on 23 September. 120 brands are displaying over 4,000 shoes in an architectural space larger than the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall! Über luxe brands such as Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Prada and Chanel house their collections in custom designed brand boutiques alongside 11 ‘galleries’ from famous high street brands Topshop, Kurt Geiger and LK Bennett amongst others.

As part of the overall campaign message around the Shoe Galleries’ launch Bloc were commissioned to create two animated videos ‘Shoe-dunnit’ and ‘Wedge of Darkness’. Bloc’s animations give life and personality to the Selfridges ‘Shoeper Hero’ character who features in the surrounding above the line marketing campaign. Shoeper Hero is the embodiment of women’s passion for super shoes – the facilitator of all their footware fantasies.

Part One of Shoeper Heroes capers, “Shoe-dunnit“, can be viewed here.

Part Two, Wedge of Darkeness, coming soooooooooon…..
