Harper Collins came to us with a question – “Is it possible to bridge the gap between printed media and the Internet? Not everyone will end up using an e-reader, so how can we make use of the amazing benefits of online media via the printed book?”.
Introducing HarperPlus – the enhanced reading experience from Bloc for Harper Collins.

HarperPlus is an indexing system designed to enhance the reading experience. It alerts you to the availability of additional online material to enhance your book. This could be video, audio, images or text & is easily accessible via this website.
When you see the icons in the books margin, simply enter the page number at www.harperplus.com to view the material that complements the passage you’re reading.
For the first time ever, multimedia material can be added to and enjoyed from the printed book, and a world of possibilities open up to both the reader and the publisher.
Phase one of HarperPlus launched with the new book from Apache pilot Ed Macy and offers readers the chance to view bonus material not available in the book, including declassified video footage from the battle, audio commentary and intimate photos of life in the heart of the battlezone.
Phase Two will enhance the reading experience further – but more on that later!… Stay tuned!
The HarperPlus Edition of Apache has been performing extremely well with a significant increase in both sales and online engagement.

Working with the team at Harper Collins, Bloc created both the print material (brand, idents, stickers, in-book icons etc) and the online collateral – the website and asset management system.
Stay tuned for more news on HarperPlus books and major updates to the website.
